Best practice of the promotion for infection control on practices Among healthcare personnel and incidence of VAP at tertiary care in Thailand

Background: Nosocomial in Rajavithi hospital, a 1,141-bed, is a major problem.The prevalance Survey in 2009 VAP is the most infection in hospital. And follow guidelines to prevente infection from VAP activity of nursing tasks such as 5 moment: patient position, suctions, oral care, tube feeding and maintenance of equipment related to the respiratory tract .If you followed in 5 moment, can reduced the incidence of VAP . In addition, WHAP were defined as KPI.and operated jointly promote compliance with the strictly. ICN must be able to use the advanced performance of action as well as comprehensive monitoring of the infection over time. Presents problems that occur to chief executive and HCW.
Objective: VAP decreased as a measure of the hospital (9.6/1,000 vent- days)
Materials and Methods: The Action Research study was conducted to investigate the effect of promoting the implementation of PDCA.
Results: After the promotion by the PDCA process. That was strictly observational, including the ICN have a more accurate performance all activities. The incidence of VAP was 10.06 / 1000 vent-days to 8.42 / 1000 vent-days .The PDCA process can allow agencies the importance and commitment to improving the quality of care to the patient safety from VAP complications in hospitals.
Conclusion: Compliance the evidence guidelines for VAP and the promotion of practical action to be taken with care. ICN should be used competency of APN in practical and PDCA processes actually improve quality. But requires time to achieve sustainability of the PDCA wheel to follow.
