Background: in the world until 2010 about 33/3 million cases of HIV-infected people were recorded that 15/9 million people of them are women. In 2009 about 1/8 million people died of AIDS.
Methods: A cross-sectional and analytical study on all HIV/AIDS patients who were registered in Behavioral Consultation Centers in central province until Mar. 2011 Data were extracted from clinical files and included consultation, vaccination, laboratory and treatment services then using the SPSS software analysis was used.
Results: until March 2011 from 208 patients who identified 56 patients have so far died and 16 patients currently in the phase of AIDS are treated. From aspect of geographical distribution 62% of patients at Arak and the rest from other cities ,in mode of transmission 73% cases due to sharing needles and 18/8% of sexual forms that of which 5/1% have been Men who have Sex with Men and trend of cases identified each year (anual incidence) from 0/5 per hundred thousand population in 1997 to 1/9 in a hundred thousand population in 2010 is reached.
Conclusion: Due to relatively rapid changes in the epidemiology of infectious diseases, knowledge of the latest status of this disease is essential for health practitioners . One of the important points to be mentioned in this study to understand the emphasis on behavior and sexual transmission networks and information through evidence based research and the bias away and accepting the concept of "harm reduction" and its impact on the AIDS epidemic is correctly understood.
